Utilizing the power of an Ecourse is a lot like fishing for sharks.
Professional shark hunters (or shark fisherman) don't do it like regular fishing. They don't put a worm on a hook and throw it in the water and wait for a shark to bite it. They have to entice the sharks to come get their bait. The proper term for this enticing stuff is "chum." The hunters throw chum in the water to attract the sharks so they can then fish for the sharks. The more enticing the chum, the better the attraction for the shark.
The same concept is used for Ecourses. Most Ecourses are designed to attract people to whatever it is that is being sold. The more enticing your Ecourse, the better the attraction for your subscribers.
OK, maybe that analogy isn't the best around, but you get the picture. You have to have a way to attract folks to what you offer, the way to attract folks is your chum. Once you attract your subscribers, you can then throw out your bait (your product/service) for your subscribers to buy.
Some folks say you want to grow your list. They say you need to get a big list. A big list is good, but if there aren't any buyers, a big list means absolutely nothing. Free chum makes people want to stay around until they find the "bait" they really like. Just like with shark hunting, if the chum isn't good, the sharks won't be biting the bait.
So ask yourself, how good is your chum? Is it the best stuff you can use to attract your subscribers? Will the take the bait after you give them chum? The best way to figure this out is by offering the best possible chum you can come up with. Yes, it's that simple!
